SWIMMING POOL WATER TREATMENT
The difference in owning a pool in Europe or many western countries is the natural elements, i.e. the weather, heat, rain, rain pollution, and of course the water used to fill the pool. Pools filled by town supply water or semi chlorinated water Firstly what is referred to in Thailand as town supply treated water is not the same standard as town supplied treated water in Australia, New Zealand, the USA and many other parts of the world. As you are aware in most of the above countries you can turn on your tap and drink the water with out even filtering it, as it has passed reverse osmosis, UV treatment, chlorination treatment, bromine treatment and is automatically kept at a constant level by computers. And you are aware it is not advised to drink straight from the tap in Thailand or most Asian countries as a mater of fact, so therefore before you can swim in your pool you need to treat it by stripping all the elements and bacteria from the water. Were a pool has been filled with semi chlorinated water this will take about 5 to 7 days providing there is no rain while the stripping process is taking place. To strip the water it is normally done with a shock dosage of chlorine, which will react if it rains, there is also a possibility that the pool water may turn green. If this happens then the water will need to be treated for a longer period. Note: while treating the pool you should not swim in the pool. Once your pool has been stripped of all the bacteria’s etc and elements it will need to be checked with a water testing Kit 3 times per week depending on the size and the amount of use the pool has. The pool should be vacuumed at least 3 times per week to prevent mould build up.
POOLS FILLED WITH UNTREATED BORE WATER OR WELL WATER
Firstly one must understand that due to the temperatures and pollution, not to mention very high iron content in un treated water (Bore Water) it is not the same standard as town supply treated water. even filtered bore water is a haven for bacterial growth and at no time it is advised to drink straight from the tap in Thailand or most Asian countries as a mater of fact, so therefore before you can swim in your pool you need to treat it by stripping all the elements, mold, and bacteria from the water. Were a pool has been filled with non treated water this will take about 7 to 10 days providing there has been no rain while the stripping process is taking place. To strip the water it is normally done with Powder agent called SunSom which is put in the pool with out the pumps being turned on, it will be left for about 24 to 48hrs, this will make all the unwanted elements drop to the floor of the pool. Then the pool will be vacuumed and shock treat it with a high dosage of chlorine, which will react if it rains. There is a possibility the pool water may turn green slightly. If this happens then the water will need to be treated for a longer period. Note : while treating the pool you should not swim in it. Once your pool has been stripped of all the bacteria’s etc and elements it will need to be checked with a water testing Kit 3 times per week depending on the size and the amount of use the pool has. The pool should be vacuumed at least 3 times per week to prevent mould build ups. Sometimes it is often common that after a heavy rain the pool may change color and require a slightly heaver dosage of chlorine or soda hash depending on the readings. There are many forms of treating pools used in the western world such as Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the USA. However what one must remember is first, in these countries bacteria that causes meningitis, legionnaires disease, hepatitis, typhoid etc are not as commonly found the water systems as they are is Asia. And there is only one chemical that kills all the bacteria that is associated with these problems and that is Chlorine. Most of the modern day treatment systems, like are designed for pools in European countries
THINGS TO REMEMBER
The color of you water has nothing to do with the filtration system its clarity is controlled by chemicals such as soda ash, chlorine, acid etc. all the filters do, is filter the solids from the water. From the first day water is placed into your pool it may look clear however when the stripping process takes place the color will change and get very murky at first, it will most likely go green for 3 days depending on the size of your pool. Then it will change to a milky white color for three more days. After this it will start to clear up. The process can take up to 10 days. Building a pool is not like building a house, there will be some days we will not be at your site however you can rest assured we will be on time in accordance with our contract. Once we reach each hand over point of the contract we will stop work and wait for your acceptance of the said works. Once this is signed by our QI inspector and you the customer and the invoice for that section has been paid we will then re commence the next stage of work. Due to the fact we build sometimes up to 20 pools at the same time we use a crew system meaning re rotate from site to site, we have a steel crew, concrete crew, plaster crew, piping crew and then our technician. These crews rotate between sites and due to this some days works may not be scheduled for your site; however we can assure you are built into our schedule which will ensure the completion of your pool in the time frame stipulated.
